Battlefields Caravan Park

The Battlefields Caravan Park is situated on a farm 400m from the tar road and 18km from Dundee on the R33 to Vryheid, in the middle of the battlefields, close to the Blood River Monument, Talana Museum, Rorkesdrift and Isandhlwana.

The park has 38 shady, level, grass campsites, 15 amp electrical points and a lapa with electricity, campfire and braai facilities, kitchen with fridges and scullery. Also available is a television, swimming pool, trampoline, fishing, game viewing and hiking in the natural bush surrounding the resort. Visitors can enjoy birding, fishing and hiking (there is a hiking trail on the property though natural bush). Tents are welcome.

Fugitives Drift Lodge

Fugitives’ Drift consists of three luxurious lodges: the Lodge, the Guest House and Umzinyathi House, each with its own unique ambience. Guests can stay at the original Lodge which has recently undergone a major renovation.

Half a kilometre further up the hill is the old colonial farmhouse and cottages of the Guest House with its more open, savannah-like aspect, and a further half a kilometre up the hill, set back from public access in private seclusion is the luxurious self-catering Umzinyathi House.

Both the Lodge and the Guest House have swimming pools. Guest rooms in all three lodges are well appointed, comfortable and spacious. Meals are served table d’hôte in the individual dining rooms or, weather permitting, outside on the decks. Guided tours to the battlefields of Isandlwana and Rorkes Drift are offered on a daily basis. Other battlefields of Hlobane, Kambula, Talana and Blood River are available on request. Guests can enjoy the wild game that thrives on the property.
