Hundreds of senior citizens residents from all Endumeni Local Municipality wards came in numbers received warm blankets, walking sticks and selected wheel chairs from the honourable Mayor Thulani Mahaye as part of giving back to senior citizens movement that was held in McKenzie Hall, 21. 08.2015. The movement was hosted in collaboration with the Al Imdaad Foundation and Muslim Youth organisation.
Al Imdaad foundation coordinator Abed described the initiative as part of the winter warm campaign whereby they have identified elderly people amongst the community of Dundee, who are in need of walking sticks and wheel chairs.
“In partnership with the municipality and local businesses we have identified the selected elderly people who really needed support, and we as the foundation has reach out the poorer of the poor most specifically profiled through operational Sukuma Sakhe” Mayor Mahaye said that the purpose of the movement is to mainly assist the residents of Endumeni predominantly elderly people to stay warm and help those who are in need.
